Introduction

The Monkey’s Paw is a famous supernatural story that deals with fate and consequences. It shows how human desires and interference with destiny can lead to tragedy.

The story is about the White family Mr. White, Mrs. White, and their son Herbert. They receive a magical object called the monkey’s paw from Sergeant-Major Morris. The paw has the power to grant three wishes, but each wish brings suffering.

Mr. White makes the first wish for two hundred pounds. Soon, Herbert dies in an accident, and the family receives the money as compensation. This shows that the wish is fulfilled in a cruel and unexpected way.

Mrs. White, unable to bear the loss, asks for her son to return to life. After the second wish, there is a mysterious knocking at the door, suggesting something unnatural has come back.

Frightened, Mr. White makes the third wish to undo the second one. When the door is opened, no one is there. The story ends with fear and silence.

The story creates suspense and horror while delivering a strong message about fate. It shows that human beings should not try to control destiny.
